Original characters from a story I'm still developing- Tabitha (the girl) "Your Cat" (the Cat) Stanley (the man in the middle) and Reg (the other guy).
Stanley is a 25 year old, recently laid-off office worker with no real sense of direction, purpose, or place in the world. His luck has been pretty bad lately- lost a job, lost a girlfriend, and a recently deceased grandfather... though there is a silver lining in his grandfather's will- a creepy old house, in quite a state of disrepair. No-one wants to buy it off him, but on the bright side, Stanley no longer has to pay rent.
However this house holds a few family secrets, and one of them isn't an old gin recipe, Stanley soon discovers after opening a mysterious bottle he found in the cellar. Turns out an entirely different definition of spirits dwelled within, and with the help of his newly awakened friends, Reg: a once-powerful old wizard who had been transformed into a hat about 60 years ago (and still is for most of the story); and Tabitha, his assistant and apprentice (who spent a long period of time as a cat and hasn't had the process fully reversed.)
None of them knows where "Your Cat" comes from, and she just won't go away.
Together, they have to collect all these spirits back before they wreck the entire town. These are no ordinary poltergeists... But the ghosts of powerful mages who feel the need to stretch their ectoplasmic muscles and empty their magic bladders after being cooped up so long.
Its probably a bit cliche, but the characters are fun enough to save it methinks- Opinions are welcome
